While Google doesn’t publish their algorithm playbook, they do strive to give us an even deeper look inside search through their official blog, YouTube video channel, industry trade shows and so on. For those of us looking to deepen our understanding of how search has evolved, Google made this video highlighting some important trends like universal results, quick answers and the future of search.
The video gives us a sense of the work that goes into the changes and improvements Google makes almost every day. In fact, they average more than a change a day! While an improvement to the algorithm may start with a creative idea, it always goes through a process of rigorous scientific testing. Simply put: if the data from their experiments doesn’t show that they’re helping users, they won’t launch the change!
